Incorrect Maps - International Travel Maps

I received this email a few days ago -
Here’s a detail of a map published by INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL MAPS called Vancouver’s Northshore Hiking Trails.It indicates a creek crossing which I don’t believe exists,shows the Lynn Loop trail as a mountain bike trail(annoying to hikers and bikers alike)and the trail to Coliseum Mt.going not to the peak but into the Seymour valley!I read of a recent rescue in Lynn Headwaters and couldn’t help but wonder if those people were using this map,sold at Lynn Valley and Westview Safeway and who knows where else.I wonder too how many other errors there may be on this and other maps produced by that company.
Sincerely;
Keith Slade
Thank you Keith - we took a look at the map and you are correct - its incorrect. Doug, one of our members, will email the publishers of the map to advise them that the map has several errors.

Several years go we rescued two guys near the Lions who had one of these maps (perhaps not the very same one, but similar and from the same source).
These guys had a GPS, but it was worthless because the map HAD NO GRID LINES and UNLABELED CONTOUR LINES!!!
If you have a GPS, make sure you either have an electronic map, or you have a paper map with grid lines.
In general, all maps a representations of reality, and are only an attempt to show what is out there. They all have errors (EG: Golden Ears is mis-labeled, as is Sky Pilot).
Nothing can replace common sense.

I *think* the Coliseum trail they have on that map isn't actually to the summit of Coliseum - it's the Coliseum ascent via Lynn Headwaters joined up with the Coliseum ascent via Seymour (to make a loop)... and neither of them are shown going to the Coliseum summit. Why they haven't included that last bit is a good question.
