Ian and Rosemary Mottershead of the Charros Foundation met with NSR team members Mike Danks and Ron Royston today and presented a cheque matching the donations to the North Shore Rescue Tim Jones Legacy Fund. In a unprecedented show of support The Charros Foundation provided a check in the amount of $118,000 to North Shore Rescue. This was announced at our team meeting tonight and was received with claps and cheers from every team member.
The members of NSR cannot thank Ian and Rosemary Mottershead enough for this unbelievably generous donation. Previously they have already provided the team with $250,000 which was used to complete the new North Shore Rescue base as well as other donations towards our radio repeater system.
The North Shore Rescue Tim Jones Legacy Fund will be administered by the West Vancouver Community Foundation, and will be placed into an account whereby only the investment earnings will be used to help fund the operations and capital expenses of the team. The principal amount will remain in the fund in order to help provide more sustainable funding to NSR. This was/is Tim’s dream and legacy.
In addition, at the same time, the Giles family of West Vancouver also provided a donation of $1000 towards the memorial fund. Thank you to Erlyne E Giles for her generous support.
The community support NSR has received via this fund has been overwhelming. We have also received many cheques and donations via CanadaHelps.org and these will all be put towards Tim’s fund.
Thank you all. I know Tim is there standing atop Seymour looking down on us with a smile overwhelmed with support his community has provided.
