New NSR Resource Centre
("The Tim Pit" ) at NSR Embassy
As a result of the
Mudslide in North Vancouver Jan 2005 NSR
has taken several initiatives to strengthen the team's
ability to assist Civil Authorities in a crisis. One
of theses initiatives was the creation of a Resource
Centre. Normally a
Search Manager would act as a Resource Manager to the
operation from his home due to NSR's excellent repeater
system. This is what occurred during the Mudslide.
However, what what really required was for this Resource
Manager to be
based from the NSR Embassy( NSR Base) where all
the equipment deployment and liaison with North Vancouver
City municipal works yard staff ( where the Embassy
is located) could
be accomplished. In,addition NSR is doing more and
more short duration helicopter rescues where
Command can be easily and more efficiently run from
this location due to the compressed time factors
and the ability to move vehicles considerable distances
quickly. The Resource Centre is informally dubbed the "Tim
Pit" ( trademark
pending).
Special thanks to the father and son combo
of Greg and Karl Winter who were the brains and brawn behind
its construction.
