On behalf of each member of NSR I would like to thank every agency and person  involved in the execution and organization of Tim’s memorial on Saturday. It was nothing short of miraculous that this event was put together in 4 days and went off without a hitch.

It was a truly powerful event and fitting send off for Tim – he would have loved it. He also would have loved watching his team receive marching training – a first for us. The turnout was amazing, and support from the community has literally been overwhelming. I will quote Doug Pope saying that “Tim always believed you could never have too many helicopters at a rescue, and today we learned that you can’t have too many helicopters at a memorial either”.

As a tribute to Tim’s legacy this event also provided unprecedented inter-agency cooperation. The experience gained from this event has actually left us better prepared for future disaster response. In essence this helped build a pre-plan for future events and disaster response and provided an introduction between all the key players in the community.

I have posted below the organizations and individuals involved in this event which will provide some scale on how challenging it was to pull together in such a short time. A special thank you to NSEMO, Mike Andrews and Tanith Laughton for being the main organizers, and Mike Little for providing them to us. As well a big thank you to the 3 municipal governments and councils for being so supportive – North Vancouver City, District of North Vancouver and District of West Vancouver.
